Hammam is the traditional bathing style of the Moroccans which is believed to be over 1000 years old. It is a steam room that is used to flush out the toxins from the body. This is a traditional part of their culture where men, women and children alike visit the public Hammam at least once a week to cleanse themselves. This is a unique experience (Kiis) worth taking part in. each session inside these public steam rooms can last between 2 to 4 hours. This is also a place where friends and families socialize and gossip. Though their system might look odd to the westerners but to them it is an auspicious and sacred deed of cleansing.

What to expect:
Steaming of the body is followed by application of oily black Savon noir or Sabon Beldi (traditional 100% olive oil soap). Once the soap seeps through the open pores, specially designed exfoliating gloves or Kiis are used to scrub the dead skins and impurities away. Many Hammam have extra care units like massage and clay pack application on the body etc.
Do not forget to carry a pair of flip flops, bikini, towels, Hammam gloves and a good savon noir or Sabon beldi (olive oil soap)
