Visit the famous South African Jewish Museum

The South African Jewish museum is the house of history of the Jewish community for over a period of 150 years. It incorporates the restored Old Synagogue (1863). It is also the location of display for the exhibition Hidden Treasures of Japanese Art showcases a collection of exquisite netsuke (carved pieces of ivory and wood).within the museum you will have the opportunity to watch a 25 minutes documentary on the life of nelson Mandela.

The museum is also the house for the decorated Great Synagogue, a 1905 building in the neo-Egyptian style; a good gift shop; and the Kosher Café Riteve.

Timings: It is open from Sundays to Thursdays from 10 h 00 – 17 h 00 and on Fridays from 10 h 00-14 h 00. It is closed on Saturdays and Jewish holidays, but remains open on public holidays

Ticket: Admission costs R 40 for adults, R 25 for pensioners, Students under the age of 16 FREE. Groups are offered special rates by prior arrangement.
