Yu Garden or Yuyuan Garden is an extensive Chinese garden located beside the City God Temple in the northeast of the Old City of Shanghai. Presently Yu Garden occupies an area of 2 hectares, and is divided into six general areas laid out in the Suzhou style. These areas are Sansui Hall, Wanhua Chamber, Dianchun Hall, Huijing Hall, Yuhua Hall and Inner Garden. Each area is separated from the others by "dragon walls" with undulating grey tiled ridges, each terminating in a dragon's head.

The garden also features pavilions, halls, rockeries, ponds and cloisters all have unique characteristics and is a great place to relax in the serene environment. In the entrance of the garden, there is a rockery, called the Great Rockery and it is the largest as well as the oldest rockery in the southern region of the Yangtze River. On the top of the rockery, one can get a bird's eye view of the garden. The Cuixiu Hall sits at the foot of the rockery and it is a quiet and elegant place surrounded by old trees and beautiful flowers. Visitors will also find curio shops in the Cuixiu Hall.
