With its magnificent rock cut images and stone items, this pilgrimage spot will definitely attract your attention and imagination. The name Unakoti means “one less than a crore” in Bengali. It has a very interesting story that tells that Lord Shiva was going to Kashi with one crore Gods and Goddesses and stopped here during the night asking them to wake up before the sun rise. However no one except Lord Shiva woke up in the morning, which forced him to curse them to become stone images and to continue his journey alone.
