Kyukyo-do is located in a fun covered shopping arcade in downtown Kyoto. The store takes up at least twice the width of the other shops, and features dark woodwork that creates a sense of age befitting the incense house. Stationery and calligraphy supplies take up most of the shop space. Most of the customers browse for the selection of decorative cards and fans and incense counter. The incense is located on one end of the central counter and there is a glass case surrounding the cash registers and gift wrapping, which contained the high-end incense and better incense accessories.

On the surface of the counter, one could find the bulk incenses open and waiting for customers to sample them. The service given by the sales associates is very warm as they help out by lighting individual sticks, to better get a sense of the scent. Even though it might be on the higher side, these souvenirs are the typically fashioned the Japanese way and are a good thing to take away to remind yourself of the intricacies that the Japanese lay on their goods.
