Explore the History at The National Museum of Saudi Arabia

The National Museum is one of the largest museum in the Middle East. The museum is the most visited and popular museum of Saudi Arabia. It is an integral part of the King Abdul Aziz Historical Centre of Riyadh. The museum has an area of 28,000 square feet, a two storeyed building which has an exquisite collection of antiquities, scriptures, artefacts and much more. The exhibits in the museum are presented in a successive manner which describe the era and the topics of the creation of universe to the Modern Age. They mainly emphasize on the Arabian Peninsula history. You can read the exhibits and even watch the movies which give you a detailed information about the history. There are eight exhibition halls in the museum which are namely, Man and the Universe where you get to know from where the oil was extracted in Saudi Arabia.

The second hall is about Arab Kingdoms, which displays the history of human civilization in the Arab peninsula like Midian, Tayma, Himyar, Kindah, Al-Ukhdood and many more. The third hall has a display of the Pre-Islamic Era, fourth the Hall of Prophets Mission which displays inspirational story of Prophet Mohammed. The fifth hall is the Hall of Islam and the Arabian Peninsula which give information on the golden age of Islam and science discoveries. The sixth hall is the Hall of the First and Second Saudi State and the seventh hall is the Unification of the Kingdom Hall, which displays the details of the mission of King Abdul Aziz Al Saud to unify the Arabian Peninsula tribes and declaration of The Unite Saudi Arabia.

The last hall is the Hall of Hajj and Two Holy Mosques history of Mecca and Madina. The Information in the museum is provided in English and Arabic. You can get guided tours as well, there are audio tours, interactive displays and video clips available. The museum is surrounded by fountains and beautiful parks where you can take strolls in the evening. Make sure to book your ticket in advance and there are different timings and days allotted for families, school trips and single visitors.
