The Fortress was built in the 18th century, with clay and mud-brick thick walls and four watchtowers which are founded on the stone blocks. The Fort was built in the old quarters, in center of Riyadh. This is the site of Ibn Saud’s daring raid, a spear was hurdled with such great force in the main entrance door that the head is still lodged in the doorway. It is a part of the King Abdulaziz Historical Centre, where centennial celebrations are held. The building played a major role in the history. It has a palm tree gate which is 3.65 metres high and 2.65 metres wide. The center door has an opening called as al-Khokha, which is as big as a person to pass through it at a time and is a feature describing defence where people where were allowed to pass in and out without the opening of the door. The fort has roofs covered with painted palm trees, Ethel wood and taramic.
