Because of the waging war over Korea in 1950, the armistice resulted in the division of Korea to North Korea and South Korea. These two sides are separated by the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ), running along the 38th parallel north. The DMZ is approximately 992 square kilometers in area and consists of beautiful mountains, plains, valleys and basins. It is an area that is home to many endangered species, natural monuments and protected wild flora and fauna. A number of unique birds come here during their migration period, owing to the bustling habitat. Through a strictly controlled tour, DMZ access by the tourists is maintained. You will know the true extent of the landscapes and beauty that this place has to offer only once you visit the DMZ
