The Old Town of Antalya or better known as Kaleici is the small historic section at the center of the modern city which was the Roman town and the Byzantine, then the Seljuk Turkish, finally the Ottoman Turkish town. The visitors can admire the impeccably restored whitewashed and red-roofed Ottoman mansions that are lining the cobblestone streets, that presently serves as a home to a myriad of boutique hotels, souvenir shops, art galleries and restaurants. This place offers an opportunity to step back into the old world through its many small tourist attractions such as the main square (Kale Kapısı) that houses a fortress gate and stone-clad clock tower, while the 18th century Tekeli Mehmet Paşa Mosque is noteworthy for its stunning interior tile work, Hesapçı Sokak, Kesik Minare (truncated minaret).
