The Musical Instruments Museum or the MIM is a music museum located in central Brussels. This museum is a part of the Royal Museums for Art and History. MIM houses a huge collection of more than 1,200 musical instruments one of the richest in the world that makes it so popular internationally. The visitors can explore a stunning world of original as well as traditional pieces, from all periods of time and continents. These instruments are divided into different floors.

The lower ground floor houses a collection centred on the 19th and 20th centuries and the popular instruments from Belgium, Europe and other continents are also exhibited on the ground floor. On the first level a historical journey from Antiquity to the present day is showcased. The next level up is devoted to the development of clavichords, harpsichords, pianos, citharas and other stringed instruments. There is also a clever infrared audio-headset system that allows visitors to even discover the sound of each instrument on display. There is also a restaurant/tea-room on the top floor of the museum that serves refined cuisine with a sweeping view of the city.

Visiting Hours:
Tuesday to Friday: 09:30 to 17:00 hours
Saturday and Sunday: From 10:00 to 17:00 hours. Last entry at 16:15 hours.
On 24 December and on 31 December, the MIM closes at 14:00 hours: last entry at 13:00 hours.
The Museum remains closed on Monday, and January 1st, May 1st, November 1st and 11th, and December 25th.

Ticket Charges: Between 0 € and 8 € - free admission every first Wednesday of the month from 1pm onwards

How to reach: The nearest subway station is Trone metro station serving on the lines 2 and 6 of Brussels Metro Service which is just a 12 minutes’ walk from the museum.
