Acropolis is the main reason behind visits to Athens. It is the star landmark of not only Athens but also of the whole of Greece. The whole complex is noted as the universal symbol of the classical spirit and civilization and form the greatest architectural as well as artistic complex bestowed by Greek Antiquity to the whole world. The key highlights include Parthenon, built by Ictinus, the Erechtheon, the Propylaea, the monumental entrance to the Acropolis, designed by Mnesicles and the small temple Athena Nike.
