Monastiraki is a flea market neighbourhood in the old town of Athens, and is one of the principal shopping districts in the city. It is home to clothing boutiques, souvenir shops, and specialty stores, as well as a major tourist attraction in Athens and Attica for bargain shopping. On Sunday, it is not really a flea market as some of the stores are closed and people bring tables and carpets to sell all kinds of stuff from junk to antiques. Most of the shops are pretty conventional and sell the same stuff you find in the tourist shops on the islands.
