The Capitoline museums are levelheaded with three buildings surrounding the Piazza del Campidoglio and interlinked by and underground gallery below the piazza. The three main buildings of this museum are Palazza Senatorio, Palazzo dei Conservation, and the Palazza Nuovo. The Plazzodei Conservation is the main entrance and once it was the center location of the city magistrates. The palace is filled with beautiful sculptures; some of them are ‘Spinario’, a bronze statue from the 1st century AD. It is a collection of amazing 16th and 17th century paintings. The Palazzo Nuovois designed by Michelangelo during 17th century. The museum consists of two floors with ancient Roman artifacts such as statues, sarcophagi, busts etc. Some of the impressive sculptures are‘Dying Gaul’, a Roman replica of the Greek ‘Discobolus’ which is the center of the Capitoline Square and a statue of Emperor Marcus Aurelius. The Palazzo Senatorio also designed by Michelangelo during 12th century. It is a home to the city government and it maintains all official records. This building became Rome’s city hall in 1870 and the statues of Romans Castor and Pollux are seen on the top of the staircase.
