The Vondel Park (Nieuwe) is a public urban park established in 1865. It is garnished across 47 hectares in the heart of the city and showcases its beauty to a minimum of 10 million visitors annually. The park consists of several ponds, lawns and well maintained garden. Famous sculptures by renowned artists such as Pablo Picasso (the Fish), Luis Royer (Joost Van den Vondel) and Nelson Carrilho (Mama Baranka) are important attractions of this park. There is an open theatre which offers music performances on pop music, classical music, dance music and cabaret. Though there is no fee for the performances, visitors are asked to donate 1 Euro. Four Bars and restaurants are there in the park for refreshment and the free market in the park offers a good shopping experience. The Vondel Park Open golf tournament which is a famous golf tournament is conducted every year. Vondelparkloop, a marathon alike event is also conducted in yearly basis. For kids there is a large playground where they can have a good time by munching the delicious pancake. Queens Day celebrations, an event dedicated to children is also held on 30th April.
