The most exciting thing you could do in a city like Auckland is guess what- go see a volcano! Unlike cities that live in the fear of being close to a volcano bed, the city of Auckland is actually built on 53 Volcanoes. Statistics say that in the last 20000 years volcanic eruption have occurred only around 19 times and many of the volcanoes today are reservoirs or have been mined in. But it is still a spectacle to behold, and the city does live with the knowledge that a volcano could erupt here in the future. But that’s no reason to not visit it, as there is technology set up to monitor these occurrences.

Some of the more significant spots are Mount Eden, Mount Albert, Mount Wellington, Mount Mangere. Mount Eden is located in near the Central Business District and has a fantastic view of the entire city, so take the time and have a long walk on a volcano today! Also some of the volcanoes have Maori Pa, which are essentially defence settlements, the largest one being in One Tree Hill, so do explore that too.

Location: Different locations around the city but Mount Eden is most accessible, being near the central business district. But there are tours available in case you want to make a day trip out of it too.

Timings: No timings are defined but have a look at the local information as different tours may run at different times

Tickets: You can check out the Fullers Volcano Explorers tours for more details. "
