Estación Mapocho is a former train station that since 1994 has been refitted as a cultural centre that hosts many kinds of events. It was built at the beginning of 20th century; it was for a long time hub for all rail traffic. This building has an obvious sentimental value which adds its imposing architecture. This building was declared national monument in 1976. It is located close to the Mercado central de Santiago. Full name of Estacion mapocho is Centro cultural estacion mapocho. Each year international book fair is held here in late spring. The station is also used for conventions, art exhibition and musical performances.

This wonderful building was repaired and restored by the beginning of 1994. It is a great looking former train station and was designed by a French architect. There is a good description of his history and brilliant building of this old station which is really beautiful exterior that can be very interesting worth of visit. It has been a major tourist attraction for many years onwards. Its ancient culture and natural beauty makes the placer good visit to the site.
