Take a tour of Archaeological ruins of the Inca-settlers at Pucara de Rumicucho

It is a pre-Hispanic citadel located in San Antonio de Pichincha, 22km from the city of Quito and minutes from the Middle of the World. It is a very common aboriginal building in the Andes of South America. The Inca ruins are located in small longitudinal altitude, through which the equator and constituted the solar observatory pre-Incan societies.

A museum was organized with exhibits of some traces like bone spoons, shell objects, ceramic pots and more. According to the architectural features of pucará and under the cultural remains registered in the excavations, the fortress was built by the Incas, probably in the late fifteenth century. A deep canyon at the monument is dug on the local volcanic filling. Rumicucho belongs to the mixed architectural style, a combination of Inca architectural styles with local architectural styles.
