Yanahuara is just an easy stroll from the centre of the city of Arequipa. This neighbourhood houses a pretty 18th-century church, a small plaza and a spectacular viewpoint from where you can marvel at Arequipa and the famous El Misti. Yanahuara gives a sense of space and peace to its guests and if you are there during the day you can wander around the tiny village streets and see what local people are up to in their daily life.

Don’t forget to try local speciality, Queso Helado which is an ice cream sold by numerous ice-cream vendors in Yanahuara. Queso Helado is basically a cheese ice-cream and this lovely artisanal ice-cream is actually made from coconut, cinnamon as well as cloves, and is totally worth spending a few soles.
