Santa Catalina Monastery is counted as one of the must visit in the city of Arequipa. It is also known as the Monastery of Saint Catherine and it is a monastery of nuns of the Dominican Second Order. The visitors can explore this monastery in two way. First one is to wander on your own with the help of a map or the second one is by taking informative guides who speak Spanish, English, French, German, Italian and Portuguese and are available for S20.

The noteworthy features of the monastery are three main cloisters named Novice Cloister, Great Cloister and Orange Cloister. The Great Cloister is bordered by the chapel on one side and the art gallery on the other. This building takes on the shape of a cross. You will also witness murals along the walls that depict scenes from the lives of Jesus and the Virgin Mary.
